A Journey Through Late Night Thoughts.🕊️
by Sisam
There are nights when everything feels like too much and not enough at the same time. 🫁
You’re lying there at 2, maybe 3am, and the ceiling has become the most familiar thing in your life. The room is quiet but your mind isn’t. You’re thinking about him. About her. About who you were two years ago and why that version of you still visits sometimes, uninvited, tender, a little broken.
You think about love — not the kind in movies, but the kind that lives in small moments. The way someone laughed at something you said. The way you stayed a little too long because leaving felt impossible. The way you said I’m fine and meant the opposite, and somehow they still didn’t notice. Or maybe they did and didn’t know what to do with it. Maybe neither did you.
I’ve been learning something slow and uncomfortable lately. 🌱
Healing is not a straight line. It’s not a journal entry where everything resolves by the last paragraph. Sometimes you have a good week — genuinely good, light, full of small joys — and then something ordinary happens. A song. A smell. A Tuesday. And you’re back in a feeling you thought you’d outgrown.
That used to scare me. Now I’m starting to think that’s just what being human feels like.
Growth doesn’t mean you stop hurting. It means you start to sit with the hurt differently. You stop running to the kitchen at midnight looking for something to fill a hole that isn’t hunger. You start choosing rest over performance. You start saying no to things that ask too much and yes to the quiet things that actually feed you.
It’s slow. It’s not pretty. But it’s real.
There’s something I’ve been trying to practise: peace. 🕊️
Not the kind where everything is sorted and your inbox is empty and your life makes sense. The other kind. The kind you choose on a Wednesday morning when nothing is wrong but nothing feels right either. When you make your tea slowly. When you sit by a window for no reason. When you let yourself just be somewhere without needing it to be productive or meaningful or Instagrammable.
Just: here. Breathing. Soft.
I think that’s what I’ve been reaching for all along — not happiness exactly, but softness. The ability to move through hard things without hardening. To love people even when it’s complicated. To grieve things that never had names. To be uncertain about the future and still get up and make something of the day.
So this is all of it, wrapped in one place. 🤍
The love that left marks. The healing that takes longer than you planned. The 3am thoughts that are somehow both the most honest and the most unreliable things about you. The slow, deliberate choice to live gently even when the world doesn’t.
I don’t have answers. I never really have.
But I’m still here, writing softly. And maybe that’s enough for now.
